Manchester United's David Åkesson proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 33rd minute of the match, managed to save Manchester United from getting a goal against them. If Jimmie Andberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Max Alrot lost his temper 46 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee gave Manchester United a penalty, 48 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Svante Mattsson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Grego's Niklas Gadd. 0-2. After the first half Manchester United were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jimmie Andberg stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jimmie Andberg in the 89th minute of play forced Grego's goalkeeper Niklas Gadd to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Niklas Gadd didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jimmie Andberg went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Niklas Gadd took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sven-Ove Sellberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manchester United's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
