Karlstad BK's Ola Sander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Charlie Bengtsson in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Robert Sellberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Karl-Johan Fagrell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Michael Qvarnström was relentless in the 47th minute of the game. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

Michael Qvarnström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Karl-Johan Fagrell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ola Sander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hampus Pihlwall, who was totally free with the ball in the 64th minute. Karlstad BK were furious when Viktor Mattsson was red carded, 66 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests.
