After 22 minutes of play, Östra Frölunda's Egon Petersson made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anthon Helander was left in no man's land by his defense there! Edwin Hedling didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Charles Gustafsson went, in the 26th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-2 was the resulting score. In the 30th match minute, Östra Frölunda was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sven-Oskar Lundblad to maneuver through the defense. In the 32nd minute, Bertil Ahlberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Anthon Helander was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-3. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 2-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

A hard shot by Reine Hansson from long distance, 55 minutes into the match, got Anthon Helander's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. When Leonard Deckberg came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Östra Frölunda fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Leonard Deckberg couldn't finish the play. If Egon Petersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
