The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Stjärtpillarnas IK's goal looked a bit too open when Stig Kling came free, but Calle Jansson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 4th minute, Karl-Johan Hjortsberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Morgan Alström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kent Västlund having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Mats Östlund got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match clock showed 17 minutes, the score became 1-0 when Stig Kling sped through Stjärtpillarnas IK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Calle Jansson. Morgan Alström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 24th minute, Morgan Alström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stjärtpillarnas IK's supporters rose to their feet, but Morgan Alström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kent Västlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Kåre Göransson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kent Västlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Kåre Göransson, who was totally free with the ball in the 31st minute. 35 minutes into the game, Roger Lundqvist cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Kent Västlund was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 44th minute of the match Bernt Vibjörnsson shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Kent Västlund showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Mats Östlund in the 45thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Calle Jansson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Stig Kling stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Calle Jansson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Stig Kling in the 51st minute of play. In the 52nd minute, Roger Lundqvist hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Stig Kling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 61st minute, Stig Kling managed to get in a good position for a shot. Marlins FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Stig Kling was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Calle Jansson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Marlins FC's Kent Västlund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save Marlins FC from getting a goal against them. 78 minutes into the match, Marlins FC's goal looked a bit too open when Morgan Alström came free, but Kent Västlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marlins FC were furious when Andréas Vallmark was red carded, 86 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 86th minute of the game. One of Marlins FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Stjärtpillarnas IK:s goal. Bernt Vibjörnsson placed the ball on the penalty spot and got himself ready to shoot. Post out! After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Morgan Alström managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stjärtpillarnas IK's supporters rose to their feet, but Morgan Alström was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kent Västlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Morgan Alström in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Kent Västlund saved Marlins FC from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 97th minute, Kåre Göransson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stjärtpillarnas IK's supporters rose to their feet, but Kåre Göransson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kent Västlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Many of Stjärtpillarnas IK's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Stjärtpillarnas IK may have spent more time on the ball, but Marlins FC were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
