The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Jens-Åke Söderlund was extremely unlucky when he, in the 4th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. In the 5th minute, Bernt Hernström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Åtvidabergs ff's Jonas Josefsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Börge Nykvist in the 7th minute of play. Roger Wassenius missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 18 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Kurt Lindholm right hand side. Mattias Sundström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Lindholm having to interfere. After 23 played minutes Åtvidabergs ff got a freekick which was hit by Dan Lindqvist. Jonas Josefsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Börge Nykvist went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. When Robin Lundström fell near the penalty area in the 31st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ljungskile's protests and gave Robin Lundström a yellow card for diving instead. Robin Lundström hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. The supporters of Åtvidabergs ff booed when Ljungskile was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Robin Lundström didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Åtvidabergs ff's goal looked a bit too open when Bernt Hernström came free, but Jonas Josefsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mattias Sundström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Kurt Lindholm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 38th minute, Åtvidabergs ff's Jens-Åke Söderlund dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 43 played minutes Ljungskile got a freekick which was hit by Robin Lundström. In the 47th minute Börge Nykvist shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonas Josefsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Henry Bäckman stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. Kurt Lindholm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jens-Åke Söderlund, who was totally free with the ball in the 61st minute. Bernt Hernström hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Jonas Josefsson made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Börge Nykvist sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mattias Sundström in the 69th minute of play forced Ljungskile's goalkeeper Kurt Lindholm to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Ljungskile's goal looked a bit too open when Mattias Sundström came free, but Kurt Lindholm reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the match, Jens-Åke Söderlund had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Kurt Lindholm. Ljungskile's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jens-Åke Söderlund was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Börge Nykvist got free with Jonas Josefsson in the 80th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jens-Åke Söderlund received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Kurt Lindholm tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kurt Lindholm made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jens-Åke Söderlund in the 86th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robin Lundström in the 89th minute of play forced Åtvidabergs ff's goalkeeper Jonas Josefsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonas Josefsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henry Bäckman, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. Kurt Lindholm didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Mattias Sundström went, in the 96th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Åtvidabergs ff's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
