The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 6th match minute, Gargnäs IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sture Flink to maneuver through the defense. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Helge Kvist in the 13th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Olov Strandberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 16th match minute, Grillby FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ragnar Tinglöv to maneuver through the defense. Olov Strandberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aquilino Etxekopar, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. 19 minutes into the game, Uno Nordström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Gargnäs IK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Grillby FK the free kick. In the 19th match minute, Gargnäs IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Uno Nordström to maneuver through the defense. After 21 played minutes Gargnäs IK got a freekick which was hit by Wiktor Apelqvist. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquilino Etxekopar in the 22nd minute of play forced Gargnäs IK's goalkeeper Olov Strandberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Aquilino Etxekopar succeeded in the game's 23rd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-2. Helge Löfdahl could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 27th minute of the match, but Gunnar Melander made a huge save. Olov Strandberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Aquilino Etxekopar, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Helge Kvist blasted a shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Olov Strandberg having to make a save. 32 minutes into the match, Aquilino Etxekopar notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Gargnäs IK's Olov Strandberg. Olov Strandberg was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Gargnäs IK's Olov Strandberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Helge Kvist in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, Gargnäs IK's goal looked a bit too open when Aquilino Etxekopar came free, but Olov Strandberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Olov Strandberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Helge Kvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Wiktor Apelqvist's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Gunnar Melander firmly grabbed it by the left post. Aquilino Etxekopar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Olov Strandberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After the first half Grillby FK were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tom Överman to make the kick off. Helge Löfdahl kicked well hit freekick during the 52nd minute of the match. Aquilino Etxekopar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After a rather tough play, Gargnäs IK's Sebastian Gadd got a free kick in the 59th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Helge Kvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Grillby FK's supporters rose to their feet, but Helge Kvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Olov Strandberg breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gunnar Melander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tom Överman, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. In the 67th minute, Aquilino Etxekopar reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Olov Strandberg. The goal made the score 0-4. The audience thought a goal was coming when Helge Kvist got free with Olov Strandberg in the 72nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a defensive mix-up in Gargnäs IK's zone, Helge Kvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olov Strandberg came out of the goal and Helge Kvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Helge Kvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aquilino Etxekopar in the 79th minute of play forced Gargnäs IK's goalkeeper Olov Strandberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tom Överman in the 81st minute of play forced Grillby FK's goalkeeper Gunnar Melander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Aquilino Etxekopar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Olov Strandberg was relentless in the 95th minute of the game. Gunnar Melander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yngve Johnsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 96th minute. The Gargnäs IK fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Grillby FK were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
