Joar Söderberg kicked well hit freekick during the 3rd minute of the match. 6 minutes into the match, Patrick Viberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jens-Ola Harman. IFK Malmö's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Patrick Viberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. If Patrick Viberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 18 minutes into the match, IFK Malmö's goal looked a bit too open when Patrick Viberg came free, but Jens-Ola Harman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Per-Erik Fribäck received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jens-Ola Harman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 21stth minute of the game Per-Erik Fribäck who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but IFK Malmö's Jens-Ola Harman was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Per-Erik Fribäck's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 23rdth minute, Jens-Ola Harman skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Tage Dahlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Bolander in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Mjällby Aif's Per-Erik Fribäck sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jens-Ola Harman narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Morgan Kellberg came up free with the goalie in the 27th minute, the Mjällby Aif fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Morgan Kellberg couldn't finish the play. Jens-Ola Harman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patrick Viberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. If Roger Vibjörnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jens-Ola Harman showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrick Viberg in the 37th minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Micael Yeste got free with Jens-Ola Harman in the 42nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tage Dahlberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eric Bolander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Mjällby Aif fans' excitement grew in the 46th match minute when Mjällby Aif's Per-Erik Fribäck looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Tage Dahlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eric Bolander in the 56th minute of play. 57 minutes into the match, Patrick Viberg notched a goal, 3-0, to the right of IFK Malmö's Jens-Ola Harman. Jens-Ola Harman was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Per-Erik Fribäck fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jens-Ola Harman having to interfere. After having played for 63 minutes, Micael Yeste managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mjällby Aif's supporters crossed their fingers, but Micael Yeste was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Per-Erik Fribäck had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Joar Söderberg charged in rather forcefully in the 67th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Joar Söderberg the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 67th match minute, IFK Malmö was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joar Söderberg to maneuver through the defense. Mjällby Aif made a substitution. Melker Ek replaced Per-Erik Fribäck. After a rather tough play, IFK Malmö's Joar Söderberg got a free kick in the 68th minute. If Melker Ek had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Melker Ek came up free with the goalie in the 73rd minute, the Mjällby Aif fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Melker Ek couldn't finish the play. When Mjällby Aif's Melker Ek in the 79th minute got a chance for a shot 79th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye IFK Malmö's goalie prevented a goal. Mjällby Aif's supporters rose to their feet, but Melker Ek was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jens-Ola Harman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 86th minute, Patrick Viberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jens-Ola Harman stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Melker Ek's shot from short distance in the 88th minute. In the 94th minute Melker Ek shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jens-Ola Harman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Tage Dahlberg successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. In the 97th minute, Patrick Viberg ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jens-Ola Harman was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-0. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Mjällby Aif fully deserved thier win.
