Stig-Ove Askelöf took the ball and in the 5 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Örjan Lundqvist. Örjan Lundqvist dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. After some careless play in the Hammarby IF defense, Agnaldo Antunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Örjan Lundqvist. The Hammarby IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Örjan Lundqvist should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Agnaldo Antunes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Örjan Lundqvist was relentless in the 16th minute of the game. In the 19th minute, Jim Billvall made a precise shot to the right of Martin Rolandsson. Hammarstrand FK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-2. After some careless play in the Hammarby IF defense, Sebastian Sjödin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Örjan Lundqvist. The Hammarby IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Örjan Lundqvist should have stopped the shot. Stig-Ove Askelöf received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 28th minute. Örjan Lundqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 33rd minute, Sebastian Sjödin ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Örjan Lundqvist was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. Örjan Lundqvist showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agnaldo Antunes, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 37 minutes into the match, Hammarstrand FK's Sebastian Sjödin sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Örjan Lundqvist narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Agnaldo Antunes's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Örjan Lundqvist read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 41st minute of play. If Sebastian Sjödin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gilbert Qvarnström hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Sebastian Sjödin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gilbert Qvarnström stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Agnaldo Antunes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Örjan Lundqvist having to interfere. In the 61st minute, Paul Trulsson ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Rolandsson was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-4. 64 minutes into the match, Agnaldo Antunes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Örjan Lundqvist. Hammarby IF's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Agnaldo Antunes was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-5. After 67 played minutes Hammarby IF got a freekick which was hit by Gilbert Qvarnström. Martin Rolandsson didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gilbert Qvarnström went, in the 74th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-5 was the resulting score. Conny Blixt charged in rather forcefully in the 77th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Conny Blixt the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Agnaldo Antunes got free with Örjan Lundqvist in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stig-Ove Askelöf sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 87th minute, Hammarstrand FK's Jan-Erik Alin seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Jan-Erik Alin the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Hammarstrand FK protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Jan-Erik Alin had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. Jan-Erik Alin kicked well hit freekick during the 88th minute of the match. In the 89th minute of the match Karl-Oskar Winström sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Martin Rolandsson skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Hammarstrand FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kåre Ström didn't get a good kick on the ball.
