In the 15th minute, Ludwig Brolin got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of RCD Espanyol booed when Norrahammar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Inge Bergqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thor Abrahamsson charged in rather forcefully in the 21st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Thor Abrahamsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 21 played minutes RCD Espanyol got a freekick which was hit by Thor Abrahamsson. Örjan Vallgren showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Thor Abrahamsson in the 26th minute of the match. Norrahammar's Örjan Vallgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Thor Abrahamsson in the 27th minute of play. RCD Espanyol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thor Abrahamsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 46 minutes of play, RCD Espanyol's Nils-Emil Ferm made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. 55 minutes into the match, Norrahammar's goal looked a bit too open when Nils-Emil Ferm came free, but Örjan Vallgren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Russ Pickering blasted a shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Örjan Vallgren having to make a save. When Josef Strand fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Norrahammar's protests and gave Josef Strand a yellow card for diving instead. In the 59th match minute, Norrahammar was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Josef Strand to maneuver through the defense. Thor Abrahamsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Örjan Vallgren having to interfere. Thanks to some nice moves Boris Billing could shoot a difficult shot in the 65th minute, which Arvid Månsson however easily saved by the left post. Boris Billing received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Arvid Månsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Thor Abrahamsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Thor Abrahamsson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Örjan Vallgren was relentless in the 75th minute of the game. Örjan Vallgren didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Thor Abrahamsson went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. A collision led to RCD Espanyol getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Russ Pickering hit a great ball. Örjan Vallgren showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nils-Emil Ferm, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. After a defensive mix-up in RCD Espanyol's zone, Boris Billing stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arvid Månsson came out of the goal and Boris Billing tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After having played for 92 minutes, Nils-Emil Ferm managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. RCD Espanyol's supporters crossed their fingers, but Nils-Emil Ferm was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Nils-Emil Ferm's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Örjan Vallgren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 96th minute of play. RCD Espanyol's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
