Filiph Wiklund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Robert Holmgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 14th minute, besiktas's Bernt Bivall dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. After 20 played minutes HV72 got a freekick which was hit by Robert Holmgren. After some fancy dribbling in the 23rd minute, Bernt Bivall managed to get in a good position for a shot. besiktas's supporters rose to their feet, but Bernt Bivall was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Johan Kvist breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 27th minute Mikael Dahlberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Filiph Wiklund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt-Rune Hellström in the 33rd minute of play forced besiktas's goalkeeper Filiph Wiklund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Magnus Norberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Johan Kvist having to interfere. Johan Kvist made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-3. Mikael Dahlberg received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Filiph Wiklund came out and tried to block the shot, but Mikael Dahlberg slotted it home off the left post making it 2-5 in the 97th minute. The HV72 supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing HV72 would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
