With a little luck, Rydal RK's John Jönsson got control of the ball when Adrian Nyman tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 14 played minutes Rydal RK got a freekick which was hit by Per-Olof Markusson. Adrian Nyman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. John Jönsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jan Hääger, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Kåre Wahlnäs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Rydal RK booed when Motala was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lennart Berggren didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vilhelm Gulliksson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kåre Wahlnäs in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute, Kenny Svensson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Jan Hääger came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Motala fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan Hääger couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kåre Wahlnäs in the 44th minute of play forced Motala's goalkeeper Vilhelm Gulliksson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Kåre Wahlnäs was the one to do the kick off. In the 61st minute, Alfons Pihlwall ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Vilhelm Gulliksson was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Kåre Wahlnäs struck a weak shot in the 68th minute. Vilhelm Gulliksson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rydal RK. In the 79th minute of the match Olov Mårtensson sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but John Jönsson skillfully saved the ball. With an all-out effort, Rydal RK's Vilhelm Gulliksson threw himself towards the right post 83 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Kåre Wahlnäs, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Motala's Jan Hääger got a good chance for a goal in the 86th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 92 minutes into the match, Rydal RK's goal looked a bit too open when Jan Hääger came free, but John Jönsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alfons Pihlwall kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match.
