Ronny Holmstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Björklund having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Svärdsjö's zone, Sven-Åke Strömqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vilgot Bredberg came out of the goal and Sven-Åke Strömqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ronny Holmstedt in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Kurt Björklund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The supporters of Svärdsjö booed when Askersund IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils-Åke Ståhlman didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31stth minute of the game Ronny Holmstedt who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Askersund IK's Kurt Björklund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Nils-Åke Ståhlman's late challenge caught a Svärdsjö's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nils-Åke Ståhlman helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Askersund IK's Nils-Åke Ståhlman got a free kick in the 33rd minute. In the 35th match minute, Askersund IK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Casper Låsberg to maneuver through the defense. In the 40th match minute, Svärdsjö was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Henric Stenman to maneuver through the defense. Vilgot Bredberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Åke Strömqvist in the 41st minute of play. A collision led to Svärdsjö getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Göran Zander hit a great ball. 43 minutes into the match, Svärdsjö's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Åke Strömqvist came free, but Vilgot Bredberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nils-Åke Ståhlman got free with Vilgot Bredberg in the 45th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Vilgot Bredberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven-Åke Strömqvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 49th minute.

The wind increased when Sven-Åke Strömqvist made the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Askersund IK got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Rolfsson. After a defensive mix-up in Askersund IK's zone, Edmund Beck stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Kurt Björklund came out of the goal and Edmund Beck tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ronny Holmstedt in the 62ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Kurt Björklund, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After a rather tough play, Svärdsjö's Bernt Frisk got a free kick in the 67th minute. Askersund IK's Nils-Åke Ståhlman got a good chance for a goal in the 70th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Sven-Åke Strömqvist sent away a hard shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ronny Holmstedt could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Kurt Björklund made a huge save. In the 80th minute, Edmund Beck got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Vilgot Bredberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sven-Åke Strömqvist in the 84th minute of play. Ronny Holmstedt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Kurt Björklund having to interfere. Edmund Beck recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Ronny Holmstedt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
