The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Gunnar Lindholm recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 4th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gunnar Lindholm received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 6th minute. Conny Hasselqvist tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Ola Lundin had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Börge Ljungberg sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Ola Lundin's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Leif Colin was relentless in the 18th minute of the game. After some careless play in the Köpingebro defense, Gunnar Lindholm kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Conny Hasselqvist. The Köpingebro fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Conny Hasselqvist should have stopped the shot. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Gunnar Lindholm stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Ingemar Spetz during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Ingemar Spetz hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. 54 minutes into the match, Köpingebro's goalkeeper Conny Hasselqvist had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bo Tidéksson. In the 64th minute, Gunnar Lindholm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 70th match minute, Köpingebro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anton Larsson to maneuver through the defense. Edvard Wallgren, 71 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. In the 76th minute Ola Lundin shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leif Colin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Gunnar Lindholm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bo Tidéksson who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 86thth minute tested the skills of Conny Hasselqvist when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Köpingebro getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Linus Markusson hit a great ball. Leif Colin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Axel Ryberg in the 92nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gunnar Lindholm in the 96th minute of play forced Köpingebro's goalkeeper Conny Hasselqvist to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
