After 16 minutes, Walter Nordstedt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Åsarna FF and the Herräng IK players grew even worse after the yellow card. George Julin made an important save on a dangerous shot by Krister Bjursell in the 18th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Herräng IK's zone, Ove Stenkvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Åke Bark came out of the goal and Ove Stenkvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute, Jim Bengtsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Herräng IK booed when Åsarna FF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Jonsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers William Johnsson in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg George Julin saved Åsarna FF from getting behind. In the 36th minute, Ove Stenkvist made a precise shot to the right of Åke Bark. Herräng IK's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-1. After a rather tough play, Åsarna FF's Alex Jonsson got a free kick in the 40th minute. William Johnsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. William Johnsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Julin having to interfere. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

55 minutes into the match, Krister Bjursell notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Åsarna FF's George Julin. George Julin was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After having played for 58 minutes, Jim Bengtsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Herräng IK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jim Bengtsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. With an all-out effort, Åsarna FF's Åke Bark threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Ove Stenkvist, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After a rather tough play, Herräng IK's Roland Strömberg got a free kick in the 63rd minute. The supporters of Åsarna FF booed when Herräng IK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Egon Åkerman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Björn Vacker might have been able to make a better finish in the 72nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Åke Bark. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Björn Vacker ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 75th minute, Bo Stålberg hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 77th minute William Johnsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Julin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If William Johnsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 86th minute, Walter Nordstedt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 87th minute of the match Niklas Söderquist shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but George Julin showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. A collision led to Åsarna FF getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Ove Stenkvist hit a great ball. William Johnsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without George Julin having to interfere. George Julin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Krister Bjursell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
