With his leg Sverker Ahlqvist managed to avoid a goal in the 4thth minute, when Harmånger's Tage Lundgren fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a little luck, Sävsjö IF's Sverker Ahlqvist got control of the ball when Tage Lundgren tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bengt Johansson made a kick off. When Svante Smedfeldt fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sävsjö IF's protests and gave Svante Smedfeldt a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Svante Smedfeldt hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bengt Johansson in the 62nd minute of play forced Harmånger's goalkeeper Gösta Överman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a little luck, Harmånger's Gösta Överman got control of the ball when Kent Odman tried to sneak it across the goal line. Gösta Överman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt Johansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gösta Överman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bengt Johansson in the 73rd minute of play. If Tage Lundgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. After 93 played minutes Sävsjö IF got a freekick which was hit by Bengt Johansson. Sävsjö IF's Sverker Ahlqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fredrik Fridlund in the 95th minute of play. The Sävsjö IF supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Sävsjö IF would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
