Sävsjö IF's Jack Stenquist couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 6th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Tomelilla IF. After some fancy dribbling in the 7th minute, Bengt Johansson managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sävsjö IF's supporters rose to their feet, but Bengt Johansson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Anders Nordlund breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 10th minute, Kent Odman got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bengt Johansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 11th minute. Anders Nordlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 13 minutes into the match, Tomelilla IF's goal looked a bit too open when Bengt Johansson came free, but Anders Nordlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sverker Ahlqvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Evert Pålsson in the 15th minute of play. Sävsjö IF's Sverker Ahlqvist played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Arne Söderström in the 16th minute of play. After 17 minutes, Svante Smedfeldt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sävsjö IF and the Tomelilla IF players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a defensive mix-up in Sävsjö IF's zone, Vilgot Strand stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Sverker Ahlqvist came out of the goal and Vilgot Strand tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Evert Pålsson was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Kent Odman made a precise shot to the right of Anders Nordlund. Tomelilla IF's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. In the 57th match minute, Sävsjö IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Wictor Arhenius to maneuver through the defense. A collision led to Tomelilla IF getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Christian Säfström hit a great ball. Sävsjö IF's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jack Stenquist in the 66th minute. At last the ball reached Emanuel Hagberg at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Tomelilla IF. 2-1. When Arne Söderström, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 73 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Sverker Ahlqvist was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. In the 76th minute, Bengt Johansson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Anders Nordlund took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bengt Johansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
