The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Peter Strandberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The supporters of Ljung booed when Lessebo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivar Mattsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Valdemar Pååk charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Valdemar Pååk the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 9th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ljung's goalkeeper Karl Persson, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Pontus Håkansson struck a weak shot in the 11th minute. Jarl Lundström didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ljung. When Ljung's Pontus Håkansson in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lessebo's goalie prevented a goal. If Henrik Finnman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 16th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After having played for 21 minutes, Peter Strandberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lessebo's supporters crossed their fingers, but Peter Strandberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Pontus Håkansson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Jarl Lundström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Frank Lundström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Lessebo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Ljung the free kick. In a very dangerous position, a player in Lessebo fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 36th minute. Penalty! The referee gave Ljung a penalty, 38 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Åke Gustafsson, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Lessebo's Jarl Lundström. 2-0. Karl Persson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrik Finnman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 56th minute Henrik Finnman shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Karl Persson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Karl Persson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Henrik Finnman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Peter Strandberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lessebo's supporters rose to their feet, but Peter Strandberg was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Karl Persson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Ljung's Pontus Håkansson got a free kick in the 62nd minute. Peter Strandberg in the 66thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Karl Persson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Ivar Mattsson was shown his second yellow card after 70 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Lessebo's goalkeeper Jarl Lundström, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 79 played minutes Lessebo got a freekick which was hit by Henrik Finnman. 80 minutes into the match, Ljung's Åke Gustafsson broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pontus Håkansson in the 88th minute of play forced Lessebo's goalkeeper Jarl Lundström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Ljung getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Åke Gustafsson hit a great ball. Peter Strandberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Karl Persson having to interfere. Åke Fribäck sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Olof Lundström kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Ljung fans cheered their team off the field, for while Lessebo had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
