The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Edsbro IF's David Björnberg sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Carl Lindblom narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When Henry Bengtsson fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Särö's protests and gave Henry Bengtsson a yellow card for diving instead. Henry Bengtsson hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Joachim Clementsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dennis Bäckman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 28 played minutes Dennis Bäckman rounded Edsbro IF's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 1-0. Per Axelsson charged in rather forcefully in the 35th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Per Axelsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Joachim Clementsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Bäckman in the 37th minute of the match. Torsten Fastesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joachim Clementsson having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dennis Bäckman in the 43rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Joachim Clementsson prevented the ball from getting in the gole. A hard shot 44 in the game by Torsten Fastesson from a close distance when the talented Joachim Clementsson managed to make a qualified save. Edsbro IF's players were relieved. Dennis Bäckman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joachim Clementsson having to interfere. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dennis Bäckman to strike the kick off in the second half. 51 minutes into the match, Edsbro IF's goal looked a bit too open when Dennis Bäckman came free, but Joachim Clementsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. David Björnberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 63rd minute. Carl Lindblom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 65th minute, Casper Vallmark got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With his leg Carl Lindblom managed to avoid a goal in the 67thth minute, when Edsbro IF's David Björnberg fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Torsten Fastesson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joachim Clementsson having to interfere. A collision led to Särö getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Staffan Flink hit a great ball. When Per-Erik Gustavsson fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Edsbro IF's protests and gave Per-Erik Gustavsson a yellow card for diving instead. In the 84th minute, Per-Erik Gustavsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Torsten Fastesson in the 86th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joachim Clementsson saved Edsbro IF from getting behind. Joachim Clementsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Bäckman in the 91st minute of play. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
