Jimmie Svanström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 8th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 9th match minute, Mariestad FK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nils-Åke Dusett to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Kennet Sigman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Stockaryd's supporters rose to their feet, but Kennet Sigman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rune Benett breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Rune Benett didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Jimmie Svanström went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Stockaryd's Jimmie Svanström got a good chance for a goal in the 19th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Jimmie Svanström took the ball and in the 21 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rune Benett. Rune Benett dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 27 minutes into the match, Mariestad FK's goal looked a bit too open when Viggo Gabrielsson came free, but Rune Benett reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mariestad FK's Rune Benett played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jimmie Svanström in the 32nd minute of play. Stockaryd were awarded a corner in the 33th minute after Mariestad FK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Henric Fågel took the corner. The corner ended in Henric Fågel almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Mariestad FK's Rune Benett did a great save. Rune Benett showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jimmie Svanström in the 35th minute of the match. 38 minutes into the game, Peter Dalgren was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Mariestad FK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Stockaryd the free kick. The supporters of Stockaryd booed when Mariestad FK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 38 match minutes in a wonderful position. Peter Dalgren didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Kennet Sigman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jimmie Svanström might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rune Benett. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jimmie Svanström ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match clock showed 44 minutes, the score became 0-3 when Kennet Sigman sped through Mariestad FK's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Rune Benett. After the first half Stockaryd were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Kennet Sigman made the kick off in the second half. Rune Benett made a fantastic save in the 52nd minute, when Kennet Sigman sent off a good shot on target. After a rather tough play, Stockaryd's Georg Malmberg got a free kick in the 56th minute. Oscar Soned stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Peter Dalgren's shot from short distance in the 57th minute. Mariestad FK's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Kennet Sigman 60 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 0-4. After 67 minutes of play, Mariestad FK's Kurt Enegren made it 1-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Oscar Soned was left in no man's land by his defense there! Jimmie Svanström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 73rd minute. Rune Benett was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Kennet Sigman in the 84th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rune Benett saved Mariestad FK from getting behind. With a little luck, Mariestad FK's Rune Benett got control of the ball when Jimmie Svanström tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Kennet Sigman came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Stockaryd fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Kennet Sigman couldn't finish the play. Peter Dalgren sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stockaryd played a much better game than Mariestad FK and deserved their victory. The Mariestad FK players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
