After a defensive mix-up in Falkenberg IF's zone, Kjell Fagerberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dennis Bergstedt came out of the goal and Kjell Fagerberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 10 played minutes Virestad got a freekick which was hit by Axel Månsson. After having played for 16 minutes, Thomas Lidman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Falkenberg IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thomas Lidman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes into the game, Björn Duset recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Hjalmar Ambjörnsson. Björn Duset showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. The supporters of Virestad booed when Falkenberg IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Maximilian Pilblad didn't get a good kick on the ball. If Tomas Ivarsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Falkenberg IF's Dennis Bergstedt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Ivarsson in the 29th minute of play. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Falkenberg IF's goalkeeper Dennis Bergstedt, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 33rd minute Tomas Ivarsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dennis Bergstedt saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dennis Bergstedt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kjell Fagerberg in the 40th minute of play. Hubert Ivarsson kicked well hit freekick during the 42nd minute of the match. Tomas Ivarsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Dennis Bergstedt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Thomas Lidman to make the kick off. Thomas Lidman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hjalmar Ambjörnsson having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Björn Duset's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hjalmar Ambjörnsson was relentless in the 59th minute of the game. Dennis Bergstedt was out of position in the 62 minute of play, and Kjell Fagerberg capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Kjell Fagerberg really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Tomas Ivarsson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 68th minute of the match, but Dennis Bergstedt made a huge save. When Thomas Lidman came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Falkenberg IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Thomas Lidman couldn't finish the play. Thomas Lidman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hjalmar Ambjörnsson having to interfere. If Björn Duset had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Dennis Bergstedt didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Virestad.
