Pontus Hedbom tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pontus Hedbom took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Haraldsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Gustafs's zone, Bengt-Åke Björk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Pontus Hedbom came out of the goal and Bengt-Åke Björk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Peter Haraldsson came up free with the goalie in the 11th minute, the Vingåker fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Peter Haraldsson couldn't finish the play. Gustafs's Pontus Hedbom played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Haraldsson in the 12th minute of play. If Stig Sander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Marcus Åberg fell near the penalty area in the 19th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gustafs's protests and gave Marcus Åberg a yellow card for diving instead. After 19 played minutes Gustafs got a freekick which was hit by Marcus Åberg. John Wallmark took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 22nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Pontus Hedbom. Gustafs's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Jan Drewitz during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Jan Drewitz hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Greger Johansson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vincent Hellkvist in the 26th minute of the match. In the 45th minute there was a penalty for Gustafs. Nils Åkesson stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Greger Johansson. 0-1. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Stig Sander made a kick off. An unexpected shot in the 52nd minute by Stig Sander got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. In the 56th minute Stig Sander shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Greger Johansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Vingåker's Jimmy Lövkvist got a free kick in the 57th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stig Sander in the 58th minute of play forced Vingåker's goalkeeper Greger Johansson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 61 minutes, Edvard Jönsätt mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Gustafs and the Vingåker players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 61 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gustafs! With a little luck, Vingåker's Greger Johansson got control of the ball when Vincent Hellkvist tried to sneak it across the goal line. Stig Sander's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Greger Johansson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 73rd minute of play. The final whistle blew with the score still tied, and both teams left the pitch thinking about the missed chances that could have given their team the win.
