The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. George Kihlman hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. If Kent Hammarström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Young Boys Häggnäset booed when BYT NAMN was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. George Kihlman didn't get a good kick on the ball. BYT NAMN's Peter Westerberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Folke Kielstedt in the 10th minute of play. Young Boys Häggnäset's Erik Fristedt proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 11th minute of the match, managed to save Young Boys Häggnäset from getting a goal against them. 18 minutes into the match, Per-Åke Söderberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Peter Westerberg. BYT NAMN's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Per-Åke Söderberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Young Boys Häggnäset's Erik Fristedt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ove Thedin in the 25th minute of play. Peter Westerberg stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Folke Kielstedt's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. Thanks to some nice moves Ulrik Boberg could shoot a difficult shot in the 29th minute, which Erik Fristedt however easily saved by the left post. Young Boys Häggnäset's Erik Fristedt played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ove Thedin in the 35th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in BYT NAMN's zone, Folke Kielstedt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Peter Westerberg came out of the goal and Folke Kielstedt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 45th minute, Alf Mårtensson reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Erik Fristedt. The goal made the score 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Folke Kielstedt made a kick off. The Young Boys Häggnäset fans' excitement grew in the 52nd match minute when Young Boys Häggnäset's Folke Kielstedt looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 55 minutes into the game, Folke Kielstedt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-3. Peter Westerberg was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ulrik Boberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 59th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Fristedt having to interfere. Peter Westerberg made a fantastic save in the 61st minute, when Alfons Biörkman sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, BYT NAMN's Peter Westerberg got control of the ball when Osvald Norberg tried to sneak it across the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Folke Kielstedt in the 65th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Peter Westerberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When the match had gone on for 73 minutes, Per-Åke Söderberg took a quick shot and it went in 1-4 without a chance for Peter Westerberg to make any attempt to save it. Peter Westerberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Folke Kielstedt, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Alfons Biörkman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 79th minute. Peter Westerberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Folke Kielstedt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Per-Åke Söderberg in the 84th minute of play forced BYT NAMN's goalkeeper Peter Westerberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Fristedt came out of the goal in the 94th minute to try and stop a shot by BYT NAMN's Ulrik Boberg. But to his dismay, Ulrik Boberg quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. Young Boys Häggnäset played a much better game than BYT NAMN and deserved their victory. The BYT NAMN players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
