The referee ignored Red Bull FC's protests and gave Sebastian Bäckman a yellow card for diving instead. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 7th minute of the game. One of Red Bull FC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Lycksele:s goal. In the 12th minute Sune Blom shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lars Tolsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Henrik Fernström took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Klas Johansson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ivar Ekström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Max Lindmark kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Sune Blom sped through Lycksele's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Lars Tolsson. Rolf Öberg's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 24thth minute, Henrik Fernström skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After some careless play in the Lycksele defense, Sune Blom kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Lars Tolsson. The Lycksele fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Lars Tolsson should have stopped the shot. Ivar Ekström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 41 played minutes Lycksele got a freekick which was hit by Max Lindmark. A collision led to Red Bull FC getting a freekick after 47 minutes play. Bo Åkesson hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Gottfrid Heggert's late challenge caught a Lycksele's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gottfrid Heggert helped the player get up and apologised. Gottfrid Heggert hit a great freekick 56 minutes into the match. Rolf Öberg received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Henrik Fernström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ivar Ekström struck a weak shot in the 64th minute. Lars Tolsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Bull FC. Ivar Ekström received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Lars Tolsson came out and tried to block the shot, but Ivar Ekström slotted it home off the left post making it 1-3 in the 68th minute. Joacim Haegg kicked well hit freekick during the 70th minute of the match. Rolf Öberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Henrik Fernström having to interfere. Klas Johansson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 84th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ivar Ekström struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Lars Tolsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Red Bull FC. Red Bull FC played a much better game than Lycksele and deserved their victory. The Lycksele players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
