Kenneth Qvalfeldt hit a great freekick 3 minutes into the match. In the 6th minute, Mattias Nordgren ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Pär Nordgren was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Jan-Åke Karlsson hit a great freekick 9 minutes into the match. After 13 minutes of play, Newcastle United's Mattias Nordgren made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Pär Nordgren was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Långbäcken was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frans Helander didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Frans Helander in the 18th minute of play forced Newcastle United's goalkeeper Östen Kellman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Pär Nordgren stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Mattias Nordgren's shot from short distance in the 21st minute. After having played for 24 minutes, Frans Helander managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Långbäcken's supporters crossed their fingers, but Frans Helander was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Newcastle United's Johannes Nilsson got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Östen Kellman was out of position in the 33 minute of play, and Frans Helander capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Frans Helander really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. If Mattias Nordgren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Johannes Nilsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Johannes Nilsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 45th minute. Pär Nordgren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Pär Nordgren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mattias Nordgren, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frans Helander made a kick off. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Viggo Damm hit a great ball. Mattias Nordgren could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 56th minute of the match, but Pär Nordgren made a huge save. A collision led to Newcastle United getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Torgny Karlstedt hit a great ball. Långbäcken's Frans Helander got a good chance for a goal in the 67th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 71st minute Johannes Nilsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pär Nordgren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 83 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goal looked a bit too open when Sven-Oskar Broberg came free, but Östen Kellman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Sven-Oskar Broberg struck a weak shot in the 95th minute. Östen Kellman didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Långbäcken. Sven-Oskar Broberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The Långbäcken supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Newcastle United's performance. The match ended with a win for Newcastle United.
