Bo Grubb recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jakob Månsson kicked well hit freekick during the 12th minute of the match. In the 14th minute the ball was on its way in behind Säffle FK's goalkeeper Olof Dusett, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpected shot in the 15th minute by Ivar Forsell got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. If Jakob Månsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 27 minutes into the game, Bo Grubb cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Hans Askstedt was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Säffle FK's zone, Andreas Påk stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olof Dusett came out of the goal and Andreas Påk tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After the first half Säffle FK were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ivar Forsell made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Torgny Bållström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 56 minutes, Mathias Gunnarsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mellbystrand and the Säffle FK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 58th minute, Kevin Ekgren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Torgny Bållström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olof Dusett having to interfere. Olof Dusett made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Torgny Bållström in the 69th minute of play. Olof Dusett took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ivar Forsell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
