The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. When Alfred Eklund came up free with the goalie in the 2nd minute, the Älvängen fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfred Eklund couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 4th minute, Alfred Eklund managed to get in a good position for a shot. Älvängen's supporters rose to their feet, but Alfred Eklund was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Skröder breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 6 minutes into the match, Månkis Rangers's goal looked a bit too open when Ingvar Låsberg came free, but Erik Skröder reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Erik Skröder stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ingvar Låsberg's shot from short distance in the 10th minute. The supporters of Älvängen booed when Månkis Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leif Falkrans didn't get a good kick on the ball. Alfred Eklund's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Skröder read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 16th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Ingvar Låsberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Christian Biörling had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 33rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ingvar Låsberg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 38th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 40 played minutes Månkis Rangers got a freekick which was hit by Sture Kollberg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Samuelsson in the 45th minute of play forced Älvängen's goalkeeper Sven-Olof Stigsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

In the 71stth minute of the game Christian Biörling who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Älvängen's Sven-Olof Stigsson was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Älvängen's Kim Olsmann got a free kick in the 72nd minute. Christian Biörling sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
