The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tobias Ekström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Magnus Vestlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stellan Wennersten kicked well hit freekick during the 5th minute of the match. Magnus Vestlund stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tobias Ekström's shot from short distance in the 6th minute. Magnus Vestlund showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Birger Andreasson, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Herbert Högberg during the 10th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 11 played minutes Våxtorp got a freekick which was hit by Herbert Högberg. Roy Danielsson was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 11th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. If Tobias Ekström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Birger Andreasson came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Våxtorp fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Birger Andreasson couldn't finish the play. Tobias Ekström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magnus Vestlund having to interfere. The supporters of Hammarby IF booed when Våxtorp was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Michael Johnsson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Birger Andreasson hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Birger Andreasson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Magnus Vestlund tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 36 minutes into the game, Våxtorp's Birger Andreasson nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Magnus Vestlund made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 39thth minute of the game Nils Öberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Hammarby IF's Magnus Vestlund was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The audience was convinced that Birger Andreasson's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Magnus Vestlund was relentless in the 41st minute of the game. 47 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Herbert Högberg came free, but Magnus Vestlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Birger Andreasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 48th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Magnus Vestlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Birger Andreasson ran back to his position shaking his head. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Birger Andreasson made a kick off. Magnus Vestlund was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Birger Andreasson showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 53 minute of play. In the 60th minute Birger Andreasson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magnus Vestlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 0-3 became the score in the 66th minute when Birger Andreasson elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. 71 minutes into the match, Våxtorp's Tobias Ekström sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Magnus Vestlund narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 72nd minute, Roy Danielsson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 76 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goalkeeper Magnus Vestlund had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tobias Ekström. An unexpected shot in the 77th minute by Tobias Ekström got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Birger Andreasson might have been able to make a better finish in the 79th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Magnus Vestlund. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Birger Andreasson ran back to his position shaking his head. 79 minutes into the match, Hammarby IF's goal looked a bit too open when Birger Andreasson came free, but Magnus Vestlund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 81 minutes into the game, Tobias Ekström cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Magnus Vestlund was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 86 minutes into the match, Tobias Ekström dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Magnus Vestlund, 0-5. Hammarby IF's Magnus Vestlund proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 90th minute of the match, managed to save Hammarby IF from getting a goal against them. Våxtorp's Tobias Ekström got a good chance for a goal in the 93rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Våxtorp walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
