After a defensive mix-up in Hjorted's zone, Jörn Nyqvist stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Billy Säf came out of the goal and Jörn Nyqvist tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmund Melander in the 16th minute of play forced Hjorted's goalkeeper Billy Säf to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edmund Melander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Säf having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Albin Ljungberg during the 22nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 23 played minutes Santa Monica FC got a freekick which was hit by Albin Ljungberg. Alfons Sjöström hit a great freekick 24 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Jörn Nyqvist managed to get in a good position for a shot. Santa Monica FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jörn Nyqvist was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Billy Säf breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Edmund Melander had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Billy Säf stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Edmund Melander's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Edmund Melander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Säf having to interfere. Billy Säf made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jörn Nyqvist in the 35th minute of play. When the match clock showed 38 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Edmund Melander sped through Hjorted's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Billy Säf. Jörn Nyqvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Säf having to interfere. 47 minutes into the match, Hjorted's goal looked a bit too open when Edmund Melander came free, but Billy Säf reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Hjorted players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Santa Monica FC were winning 0-1.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jörn Nyqvist to make the kick off. Edmund Melander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Billy Säf having to interfere. If Peter Strömberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmund Melander struck a weak shot in the 90th minute. Billy Säf didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Santa Monica FC. Santa Monica FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
