The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tommy Dalström's late challenge caught a Sörbygden's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Tommy Dalström helped the player get up and apologised. In the 4th minute, Tommy Dalström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Staffan Törnkvist in the 6th minute of play forced Heberg's goalkeeper Rune Haglund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Staffan Törnkvist took the ball and in the 8 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rune Haglund. Rune Haglund dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Rune Haglund showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Roy Brandt in the 11th minute of the match. In the 12th minute, Leo Persson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 13 minutes into the match, Heberg's goal looked a bit too open when Roy Brandt came free, but Rune Haglund reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Roy Brandt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 17th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Richard Ahlgren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Magnus Bengtsson having to interfere. After 21 played minutes Heberg got a freekick which was hit by Tommy Dalström. An unexpectedly hard shot by Staffan Törnkvist in the 23rd minute of play forced Heberg's goalkeeper Rune Haglund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Roy Brandt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Staffan Törnkvist fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rune Haglund having to interfere. After 34 played minutes Heberg got a freekick which was hit by Leo Persson. Roy Brandt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rune Haglund having to interfere. If Staffan Törnkvist had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 43 played minutes Heberg got a freekick which was hit by Ivar Ekman. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Staffan Törnkvist in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rune Haglund prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Staffan Törnkvist stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Claes Walroth got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Roy Brandt in the 54th minute of play forced Heberg's goalkeeper Rune Haglund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Magnus Bengtsson came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Heberg's Richard Ahlgren. But to his dismay, Richard Ahlgren quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Claes Walroth kicked well hit freekick during the 63rd minute of the match. Roy Brandt's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 70thth minute, Rune Haglund skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. If Roy Brandt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 79th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Rune Haglund made an important save on a dangerous shot by Roy Brandt in the 83rd minute. During the 84th minute of the match Leo Persson completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Leo Persson a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. The supporters of Sörbygden booed when Heberg was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Leo Persson didn't get a good kick on the ball. Richard Ahlgren charged in rather forcefully in the 87th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Richard Ahlgren the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 96 minutes into the match, Heberg's goalkeeper Rune Haglund had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Claes Walroth. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
