Lakene's Ola Lundgren played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Walter Nilsson in the 3rd minute of play. Alf Wiklund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 5th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peder Hjelm having to interfere. Edvard Alebom kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. When Alf Wiklund came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the Lakene fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alf Wiklund couldn't finish the play. Jan Vikström fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Peder Hjelm having to interfere. The supporters of Lakene booed when Guteborg United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melker Ahlquist didn't get a good kick on the ball. The long shot by Ulrik Borre in the 14th minute really tested Peder Hjelm's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. Ola Lundgren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walter Nilsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jan-Ove Axelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 32 minutes into the match, Guteborg United's goalkeeper Peder Hjelm had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Alf Wiklund. Jan-Ove Axelsson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Ola Lundgren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jan-Ove Axelsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 47 minutes, Jan Vikström managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lakene's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jan Vikström was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Walter Nilsson to make the kick off. If Jan-Ove Axelsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Rudolf Björklund during the 61st minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 61 played minutes Lakene got a freekick which was hit by Rudolf Björklund. In the 65th minute, Jan Vikström got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 67 played minutes Guteborg United got a freekick which was hit by Melker Ahlquist. Alf Wiklund recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Walter Nilsson in the 78th minute of play forced Lakene's goalkeeper Ola Lundgren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Walter Nilsson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Peder Hjelm showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Henric Zachrisson, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Peder Hjelm didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Alf Wiklund went, in the 89th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Guteborg United's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
