In the 14th minute of the match Thor Stenberg sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Ulf Sundling skillfully saved the ball. 16 minutes into the game, Sune Asmundsson cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ulf Sundling was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Ove Nordlund made a fantastic save in the 21st minute, when Robert Lidström sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Bruksvallarna IF booed when Kil IFK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 25 match minutes in a wonderful position. Esbjörn Lundqvist didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ulf Sundling stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Sune Asmundsson's shot from short distance in the 29th minute. Bruksvallarna IF's Ulf Sundling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Birger Söderberg in the 31st minute of play. In the 36th minute Sune Asmundsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ulf Sundling saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46th minute, Robert Lidström left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Bruksvallarna IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sune Asmundsson to strike the kick off in the second half. Birger Söderberg in the 52ndth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Ulf Sundling, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Bruksvallarna IF's Ulf Sundling proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Bruksvallarna IF from getting a goal against them. When Sune Asmundsson came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Kil IFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sune Asmundsson couldn't finish the play. If Sune Asmundsson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 62nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 66th minute Samuel Smed shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ove Nordlund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ove Nordlund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Robert Lidström in the 67th minute of play. Bruksvallarna IF's Ulf Sundling proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Bruksvallarna IF from getting a goal against them. When Birger Söderberg came up free with the goalie in the 78th minute, the Kil IFK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Birger Söderberg couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sune Asmundsson in the 80th minute of play forced Bruksvallarna IF's goalkeeper Ulf Sundling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 82 minutes into the game, Birger Söderberg lined in a short shot 2-2 behind a frustrated Ulf Sundling. An unexpected shot in the 95th minute by Birger Söderberg got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Kil IFK were awarded a corner in the 101th minute after Bruksvallarna IF's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Stellan Vidman took the corner. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Kil IFK walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
