The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Bo Jönsson charged in rather forcefully in the 2nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bo Jönsson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bo Jönsson hit a great freekick 2 minutes into the match. Otto Sandell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ove Hjortberg in the 14th minute of play. Eddie Hedberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Freddie Alfors in the 16th minute of the match. 21 minutes into the match, Färjestaden's goal looked a bit too open when Freddie Alfors came free, but Eddie Hedberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thomas Bokelund recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 27th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 29th match minute, Piteå was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dick Salqvist to maneuver through the defense. 30 minutes into the match, Ove Hjortberg had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Otto Sandell. Piteå's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Ove Hjortberg was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. If Filip Hultman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Egon Lindgren hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. Filip Hultman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Eddie Hedberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Freddie Alfors in the 42nd minute of play forced Färjestaden's goalkeeper Eddie Hedberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 44 played minutes, Piteå's Magnus Fristedt shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Eddie Hedberg came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Piteå reached it. In the 48th minute, Freddie Alfors got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

The wind increased when Freddie Alfors made the kick off in the second half. Filip Hultman struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Eddie Hedberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Piteå. The supporters of Piteå booed when Färjestaden was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 58 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Billberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Ove Hjortberg managed to get in a good position for a shot. Otto Sandell breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 68 minutes, Kenneth Hellsing mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Piteå and the Färjestaden players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Piteå's Kenneth Hellsing got a free kick in the 68th minute. 70 minutes into the match, Piteå's goalkeeper Otto Sandell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Thomas Bokelund. After having played for 72 minutes, Thomas Bokelund managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Färjestaden's supporters crossed their fingers, but Thomas Bokelund was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Freddie Alfors had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 75th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Filip Hultman sent away a hard shot on goal in the 76th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Freddie Alfors fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eddie Hedberg having to interfere. Sven Adelsköld lost his temper 82 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. After 81 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Färjestaden! Tobias Fransson charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Piteå supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Färjestaden's performance. The match ended with a win for Färjestaden.
