An unexpectedly hard shot by Gustav Fredriksson in the 5th minute of play forced Ätran's goalkeeper Patrick Lindsten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. It seemed to be an obvious goal in the 7th minute, but Magne Vennerberg got his fingers on the ball or the save, leaving Newtons första lag hanging dry this time. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Christian Öberg in the 9th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Magne Vennerberg prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 14 minutes into the match, Newtons första lag's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Öberg came free, but Magne Vennerberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Newtons första lag's Gustav Fredriksson in the 16th minute got a chance for a shot 16th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ätran's goalie prevented a goal. Börje Christoffersson struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Magne Vennerberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ätran. In the 24th minute Christian Öberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Magne Vennerberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sven-Ove Rydelius hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 27th minute, Ätran's Christian Öberg ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Magne Vennerberg. Magne Vennerberg yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Börje Christoffersson scored 2-0 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Magne Vennerberg, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 37th minute Gustav Fredriksson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Patrick Lindsten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrick Lindsten stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Gustav Fredriksson's shot from short distance in the 43rd minute. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Christian Öberg to strike the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Ätran's Sonny Martinsson got a free kick in the 54th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Ätran's zone, Dag Sundberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Patrick Lindsten came out of the goal and Dag Sundberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Christian Öberg in the 61st minute of play forced Newtons första lag's goalkeeper Magne Vennerberg to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustav Fredriksson struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Patrick Lindsten didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newtons första lag. Newtons första lag's Valdemar Gunnarsson collided with an opponent after 63 minutes. The hit was so violent that he fractured his leg. A collision led to Ätran getting a freekick after 64 minutes play. Urban Öberg hit a great ball. In the 70th minute, Börje Christoffersson made a precise shot to the right of Magne Vennerberg. Newtons första lag's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 3-0. Magne Vennerberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Börje Christoffersson, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. Newtons första lag's Magne Vennerberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Christian Öberg in the 78th minute of play. Newtons första lag's Dag Sundberg got a good chance for a goal in the 81st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Börje Christoffersson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 83rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Börje Christoffersson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 87 minutes into the match, Newtons första lag's goal looked a bit too open when Christian Öberg came free, but Magne Vennerberg reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Magne Vennerberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christian Öberg in the 89th minute of play. After having played for 92 minutes, Börje Christoffersson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ätran's supporters crossed their fingers, but Börje Christoffersson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ätran's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
