Alfred Lustig recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 10th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Alfred Lustig charged in rather forcefully in the 14th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alfred Lustig the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 14th minute, Alfred Lustig hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Vårgårda IK getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Magnus Åberg hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tobias Ekeberg in the 22nd minute of play forced Vårgårda IK's goalkeeper Leo Hake to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Kasper Godholm kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. When Kennet Bruse fell near the penalty area in the 27th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Alsterbro BK's protests and gave Kennet Bruse a yellow card for diving instead. After 27 played minutes Alsterbro BK got a freekick which was hit by Kennet Bruse. After a defensive mix-up in Vårgårda IK's zone, Tobias Ekeberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Leo Hake came out of the goal and Tobias Ekeberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Johnny Andersson hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Tobias Ekeberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 33rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leo Hake having to interfere. If Alfred Lustig had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 36th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Martin Kellman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Leo Hake took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tobias Ekeberg, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Filip Hagström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Martin Kellman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alfred Lustig in the 94th minute of play. Tobias Ekeberg might have been able to make a better finish in the 97th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Leo Hake. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Tobias Ekeberg ran back to his position shaking his head. Jan-Ove Fagrell sent away a hard shot on goal in the 98th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Vårgårda IK players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
