The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dag Gustavsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Folke Österlund in the 5th minute of the match. When Ingvar Blom fell near the penalty area in the 5th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Anneberg's protests and gave Ingvar Blom a yellow card for diving instead. After 5 played minutes Anneberg got a freekick which was hit by Ingvar Blom. After having played for 13 minutes, Ivar Ljungberg managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hasselfors's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ivar Ljungberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Anneberg's Dag Gustavsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ivar Ljungberg in the 14th minute of play. In the 16th minute, Per-Arne Isaksson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 18th minute, Folke Kellberg got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kristoffer Bergfelt got free with Oliver Deckberg in the 19th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Dag Gustavsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ivar Ljungberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Ivar Ljungberg sped through Anneberg's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Dag Gustavsson. If Folke Österlund had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Kristoffer Bergfelt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Oliver Deckberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Folke Kellberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Deckberg having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

When Allan Göransson fell near the penalty area in the 73rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick.
