The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After some fancy dribbling in the 5th minute, Ragnar Morat managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gemla RK's supporters rose to their feet, but Ragnar Morat was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Henning Björling breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Frans Karlsson struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Gilbert Lundberg didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Kumla. Frans Karlsson took the ball and in the 10 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilbert Lundberg. Gilbert Lundberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Ralf Klint was extremely unlucky when he, in the 15th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Timmy Öberg kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. In the 21st minute of the match Sebastian Blomqvist sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gilbert Lundberg skillfully saved the ball. Gilbert Lundberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Krister Rudberg, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. If Krister Rudberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 30th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 32nd match minute, Kumla was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Per-Arne Nordin to maneuver through the defense. Ralf Klint received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Henning Björling tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Gemla RK's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sebastian Blomqvist ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Sebastian Blomqvist got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Gilbert Lundberg quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 64th minute Krister Rudberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilbert Lundberg saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ragnar Morat in the 67th minute of play forced Kumla's goalkeeper Henning Björling to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ragnar Morat in the 74th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Henning Björling saved Kumla from getting behind. Frans Karlsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Krister Rudberg had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Krister Rudberg struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute.
