Sigvard Termander tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Per-Oskar Sjögren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 7th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfred Sundström kicked well hit freekick during the 8th minute of the match. After having played for 9 minutes, Ragnar Dalgren managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norrlands Athen U23's supporters crossed their fingers, but Ragnar Dalgren was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Joacim Pålsson struck a weak shot in the 12th minute. Sigvard Termander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Norrlands Athen U23. In the 17th minute, Norrlands Athen U23's Ragnar Dalgren dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. 20 minutes into the match, Mariestad's goal looked a bit too open when Ragnar Dalgren came free, but Sigvard Termander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 20 played minutes Joacim Pålsson rounded Mariestad's defense and shot a beautiful shot into goal via left pole - 2-0. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ragnar Dalgren got free with Sigvard Termander in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ragnar Dalgren recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ragnar Dalgren's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 39thth minute, Sigvard Termander skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Norrlands Athen U23's Joacim Pålsson got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Mariestad's Sigvard Termander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ragnar Dalgren in the 43rd minute of play. The supporters of Mariestad booed when Norrlands Athen U23 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Olle Giöck didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 45th minute of the match Kim Skoog sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Viktor Qvarnström skillfully saved the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jens-Ove Pihlgren to strike the kick off in the second half. After having played for 51 minutes, Joacim Pålsson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Norrlands Athen U23's supporters crossed their fingers, but Joacim Pålsson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ragnar Dalgren's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Sigvard Termander read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 53rd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Mariestad's Jens-Ove Pihlgren got a free kick in the 55th minute. In the 64th minute, Kim Skoog hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Joacim Pålsson, 64 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Mariestad's Sigvard Termander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ragnar Dalgren in the 71st minute of play. After 72 minutes, Ragnar Dalgren made it 6-0 with a short kick to the right side. Mariestad's Sigvard Termander tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 75th minute, Ragnar Dalgren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sigvard Termander showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ragnar Dalgren in the 84th minute of the match. Per-Oskar Sjögren struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Sigvard Termander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Sigvard Termander showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ragnar Dalgren in the 93rd minute of play forced Mariestad's goalkeeper Sigvard Termander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sigvard Termander stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ragnar Dalgren's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. After 96 minutes, Per-Oskar Carlsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mariestad and the Norrlands Athen U23 players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 96 played minutes Mariestad got a freekick which was hit by Per-Oskar Carlsson. Per-Oskar Sjögren fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 97th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sigvard Termander having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Norrlands Athen U23 had played much better football throughout.
