The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Erik Helström sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to V. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Per-Erik Lundhberg fell near the penalty area in the 11th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sala IFK's protests and gave Per-Erik Lundhberg a yellow card for diving instead. After a defensive mix-up in Sala IFK's zone, Christer Runeberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uno Abrahamsson came out of the goal and Christer Runeberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 15 minutes into the game, Erik Helström cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Uno Abrahamsson was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When V. Berga's Erik Helström in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Sala IFK's goalie prevented a goal. Jonathan Stenqvist received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 34th minute. Dick Billock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 44 minutes of play, V. Berga's Björn Heggert made it 0-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Uno Abrahamsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 48 minutes, Christer Runeberg made it 0-5 with a short kick to the right side. Sala IFK's Uno Abrahamsson tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-5 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Harald Dahlqvist to make the kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Sala IFK's goalkeeper Uno Abrahamsson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Christer Runeberg. An unexpectedly hard shot by Erik Helström in the 56th minute of play forced Sala IFK's goalkeeper Uno Abrahamsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Sala IFK's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Christer Runeberg fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Uno Abrahamsson made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christer Runeberg in the 59th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Erik Helström took a quick shot and it went in 0-6 without a chance for Uno Abrahamsson to make any attempt to save it. If Erik Helström had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Helström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Christer Runeberg fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Uno Abrahamsson having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Sala IFK's zone, Christer Runeberg stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Uno Abrahamsson came out of the goal and Christer Runeberg tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Uno Abrahamsson successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Christer Runeberg scored 0-7 in the 90th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Uno Abrahamsson, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Erik Helström in the 94thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Uno Abrahamsson, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 95th minute V. Berga were awarded a corner. Patrik Termander went to the cornerflag to take it.
