To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Melker Ek in the 9thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Hans Odman, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. When Svante Sävström fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vitå RK's protests and gave Svante Sävström a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Vitå RK getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Svante Sävström hit a great ball. Hans Odman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Sven Hylander, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. 26 minutes into the game, Jan-Ove Åkesson was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hjälteby's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vitå RK the free kick. A collision led to Hjälteby getting a freekick after 27 minutes play. Vitå RK's supporters rose to their feet, but Sven Hylander was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hans Odman breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Casper Magnusson stood ready after the free kick and tried to head the ball into the goal, but got pushed from behind by one of Vitå RK's defenders and the ball went out. Hjälteby appealed in vain for a penalty, the referee looked over at the linesman, but the flag stayed down. No Penalty. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.
