The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Klas Wall in the 5th minute of play forced Övertorneå RK's goalkeeper Jonny Winström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Vargön booed when Övertorneå RK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 6 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rasmus Pilblad didn't get a good kick on the ball. Klas Wall received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Jonny Winström tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joakim Stenkvist made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edvard Almkvist in the 14th minute of play. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 18th minute of the game. One of Övertorneå RK:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Vargön:s goal. If Klas Wall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gösta Olsson struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Joakim Stenkvist didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Övertorneå RK. In the 28th minute Klas Wall shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonny Winström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gösta Olsson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 34th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peter Andreasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 39th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some careless play in the Övertorneå RK defense, Klas Wall kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonny Winström. The Övertorneå RK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonny Winström should have stopped the shot. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edvard Almkvist to make the kick off. Jonny Winström didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Peter Andreasson went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-3 was the resulting score. Övertorneå RK's Jonny Winström proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 64th minute of the match, managed to save Övertorneå RK from getting a goal against them. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Klas Wall in the 66th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonny Winström prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 67th minute, Rasmus Pilblad hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jonny Winström acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 68th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Robert Helström. Klas Wall sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Övertorneå RK getting a freekick after 71 minutes play. Bengt Holmgren hit a great ball. During the 72nd minute of the match Rasmus Pilblad completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Rasmus Pilblad a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Rasmus Pilblad kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. Peter Andreasson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 74th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonny Winström having to interfere. Peter Andreasson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. When Gösta Olsson came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Övertorneå RK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gösta Olsson couldn't finish the play. Vargön's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gösta Olsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Vargön walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
