Birger Bäcklin made the kick off and thus started the match. In the 2nd match minute, Svärdsjö was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Joar Hagström to maneuver through the defense. Frans Torstensson took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 3rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Inge Tolsson. Svärdsjö's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Hertha Göteborg's Alvar Jönsson got a good chance for a goal in the 4th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 5 minutes into the match, Peter Wållander notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Svärdsjö's Inge Tolsson. Inge Tolsson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Jens-Åke Aleberg's late challenge caught a Svärdsjö's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jens-Åke Aleberg helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Hertha Göteborg's Jens-Åke Aleberg got a free kick in the 8th minute. Alvar Jönsson took the ball and in the 11 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Inge Tolsson. Inge Tolsson dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. In the 14th minute, Peter Wållander got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 16th minute, Alvar Jönsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Svärdsjö's Inge Tolsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Peter Wållander in the 26th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Svärdsjö's zone, Alvar Jönsson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Inge Tolsson came out of the goal and Alvar Jönsson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 29 minutes into the match, Svärdsjö's goal looked a bit too open when Peter Wållander came free, but Inge Tolsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Hertha Göteborg fans' excitement grew in the 30th match minute when Hertha Göteborg's Peter Wållander looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-3 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. 33 minutes into the game, Ingemar Byström was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Hertha Göteborg's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Svärdsjö the free kick. Ingemar Byström kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. The supporters of Hertha Göteborg booed when Svärdsjö was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Birger Bäcklin didn't get a good kick on the ball. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alvar Jönsson couldn't finish the play. In the 71st minute, Svärdsjö's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Alvar Jönsson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Peter Wållander fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Inge Tolsson having to interfere. Inge Tolsson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Wållander, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Wållander in the 78th minute of play forced Svärdsjö's goalkeeper Inge Tolsson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. During the 79th minute of the match Holger Skoog completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Holger Skoog a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Holger Skoog hit a great freekick 80 minutes into the match. 81 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Hertha Göteborg's Alvar Jönsson fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. The audience was convinced that Peter Wållander's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Inge Tolsson was relentless in the 84th minute of the game. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alvar Jönsson got free with Inge Tolsson in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 94th minute, Alvar Jönsson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match was over Hertha Göteborg could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Svärdsjö throughout the match.
