Hans Steenberghs tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Corrado Piermattei got free with Hans Steenberghs in the 11th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bernt Tinglöf came out of the goal in the 13th minute to try and stop a shot by Monsters's Osvald Helemäe. But to his dismay, Osvald Helemäe quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Monsters's Hans Steenberghs proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 16th minute of the match, managed to save Monsters from getting a goal against them. Bernt Tinglöf took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicklas Lustig, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. IFK Göteborg's Bernt Tinglöf played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicklas Lustig in the 19th minute of play. Bernt Tinglöf showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nicklas Lustig, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. In the 48th minute, Nicklas Lustig left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Monsters fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Osvald Helemäe made a kick off. Monsters were awarded a corner in the 59th minute after IFK Göteborg's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Hellsing took the corner. The IFK Göteborg fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Monsters were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
