In the 4th match minute, Fortuna Galaxy was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Arvin Åkesson to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Balla Gubbar IF's Henrik Olsman tried to score from far away in the 5th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 14th minute, Morgan Byström hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 16th match minute, Balla Gubbar IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dan Smefeldt to maneuver through the defense. In the 21st minute, Peter Kielstedt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Balla Gubbar IF fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. In the 26th minute Martin Bergsten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Georg Nyström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dan Smefeldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Georg Nyström having to interfere. After 29 played minutes Fortuna Galaxy got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Malmberg. A collision led to Balla Gubbar IF getting a freekick after 31 minutes play. Dan Smefeldt hit a great ball. After having played for 32 minutes, Allan Västlund managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Fortuna Galaxy's supporters crossed their fingers, but Allan Västlund was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Georg Nyström came out of the goal in the 36th minute to try and stop a shot by Balla Gubbar IF's Peter Kielstedt. But to his dismay, Peter Kielstedt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After 39 minutes, Nils-Erik Björklund mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Balla Gubbar IF and the Fortuna Galaxy players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Fortuna Galaxy booed when Balla Gubbar IF was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nils-Erik Björklund didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 43 minutes of play Balla Gubbar IF's Nils-Erik Björklund was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Nils-Erik Björklund hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When Martin Bergsten came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the Balla Gubbar IF fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Martin Bergsten couldn't finish the play. After some careless play in the Fortuna Galaxy defense, Dan Smefeldt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Georg Nyström. The Fortuna Galaxy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Georg Nyström should have stopped the shot. A sloppy throw-in by Juliusz Naujasodis in the 65th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Fortuna Galaxy's Hans Vacker. After having played for 68 minutes, Dan Smefeldt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Balla Gubbar IF's supporters crossed their fingers, but Dan Smefeldt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Peter Kielstedt in the 69th minute of play forced Fortuna Galaxy's goalkeeper Georg Nyström to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Georg Nyström made an important save on a dangerous shot by Dan Smefeldt in the 84th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Allan Västlund in the 87th minute of play forced Balla Gubbar IF's goalkeeper Zsigmond Túri to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th match minute, Balla Gubbar IF was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Bergsten to maneuver through the defense. After some careless play in the Balla Gubbar IF defense, Allan Västlund kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Zsigmond Túri. The Balla Gubbar IF fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Zsigmond Túri should have stopped the shot. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Balla Gubbar IF eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
