The Sparta Szamotuły fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Olgierd Latocha should have stopped the shot. Radomir Robak showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dominik Ludzia in the 10th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Dominik Ludzia's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Radomir Robak was relentless in the 13th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 16 minutes, Dominik Ludzia put it in 1-1 from a short distance just to the right of Radomir Robak. Olgierd Latocha was out of position in the 20 minute of play, and Zygmunt Mikulski capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zygmunt Mikulski really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. Dominik Ludzia received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 23rd minute. Radomir Robak tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sparta Szamotuły's Olgierd Latocha proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Sparta Szamotuły from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dominik Ludzia in the 30th minute of play forced Lechia Gdańsk's goalkeeper Radomir Robak to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arkadiusz Frodyma kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. After 37 played minutes Sparta Szamotuły got a freekick which was hit by Zbyszek Kornecki. Olgierd Latocha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olivier Giroud, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 43rd minute of the match Zbyszek Kornecki sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Radomir Robak skillfully saved the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Olivier Giroud in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Olgierd Latocha saved Sparta Szamotuły from getting behind. In the 47th minute Wladyslaw Oleszak shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olgierd Latocha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

When Sparta Szamotuły's Dominik Ludzia in the 52nd minute got a chance for a shot 52nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Lechia Gdańsk's goalie prevented a goal. After 53 played minutes Lechia Gdańsk got a freekick which was hit by Janusz Osikowicz. Sparta Szamotuły's Olgierd Latocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olivier Giroud in the 58th minute of play. If Olivier Giroud had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Dominik Ludzia got free with Radomir Robak in the 66th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 67 minutes into the match, Lechia Gdańsk's goal looked a bit too open when Dominik Ludzia came free, but Radomir Robak reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olivier Giroud in the 74th minute of play forced Sparta Szamotuły's goalkeeper Olgierd Latocha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Olgierd Latocha stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Olivier Giroud's shot from short distance in the 76th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 77th minute, Dominik Ludzia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Sparta Szamotuły's supporters rose to their feet, but Dominik Ludzia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Radomir Robak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 78 minutes into the match, Olivier Giroud had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Olgierd Latocha. Sparta Szamotuły's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Olivier Giroud was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-2. The supporters of Sparta Szamotuły booed when Lechia Gdańsk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zygmunt Mikulski didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 85thth minute of the game Dominik Ludzia who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Lechia Gdańsk's Radomir Robak was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Zygmunt Mikulski charged in rather forcefully in the 85th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zygmunt Mikulski the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Lechia Gdańsk's Zygmunt Mikulski got a free kick in the 86th minute. Sparta Szamotuły's Olgierd Latocha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olivier Giroud in the 95th minute of play. Lechia Gdańsk's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Radowit Zbydniewski in the 97th minute. Lechia Gdańsk's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
