The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Piotr Cwenar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Leonard Liermann having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Roman Ryback's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Andrzej Tamulewicz was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. 11 minutes into the match, Janostrów's goal looked a bit too open when Juliusz Gendolla came free, but Leonard Liermann reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Janostrów's Leonard Liermann played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juliusz Gendolla in the 11th minute of play. The attack was good, but when Roman Ryback in the 15th minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. In the 21st minute Roman Ryback shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrzej Tamulewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Krzysztof Jarek hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. Andrzej Tamulewicz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Mikolaj Mleczewski in the 26th minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Juliusz Gendolla in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Leonard Liermann prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 31st minute, Bartosz Rode ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Andrzej Tamulewicz was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After a rather tough play, Janostrów's Wladyslaw Sowa got a free kick in the 33rd minute. A collision led to Janostrów getting a freekick after 40 minutes play. Zbyszko Cieliczka hit a great ball. 43 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when Janostrów's Bartosz Rode fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. He walked away shaking his head. In the 45th minute Bartosz Rode shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Andrzej Tamulewicz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The Newcastle United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Janostrów were winning 0-1.

Piotr Cwenar sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 60th minute Juliusz Gendolla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonard Liermann saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 63 played minutes Janostrów got a freekick which was hit by Zbyszko Cieliczka. In the game's 65th minute Newcastle United's Igor Mikulski took a hard shot from long distance, a kick which went into the net just to the right of Leonard Liermann and thus the score was 1-2. Piotr Cwenar struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Leonard Liermann didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Newcastle United. In the 78th minute, Bartosz Rode got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Newcastle United booed when Janostrów was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sebastian Rutecki didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Newcastle United's Igor Mikulski tried to score from far away in the 83rd minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 87 minutes into the match, Newcastle United's goalkeeper Andrzej Tamulewicz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Bartosz Rode. After a defensive mix-up in Newcastle United's zone, Bartosz Rode stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Andrzej Tamulewicz came out of the goal and Bartosz Rode tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Leonard Liermann showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juliusz Gendolla in the 96th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Janostrów eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
