After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Ludomil Kisielka managed to get in a good position for a shot. Krosny's supporters rose to their feet, but Ludomil Kisielka was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Andrzej Tamulewicz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 22 minutes into the game, Bartlomiej Solarek was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Newcastle United's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Krosny the free kick. The audience thought a goal was coming when Konrad Drzewucki got free with Andrzej Tamulewicz in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.
