Kazimierz Dziedziaks short, quick shot in the 30thth minute got Marek Nigbor to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. The long shot by Zenon Bondel in the 33rd minute really tested Marek Nigbor's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. When Michal Zawada fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Orzeł Toruń's protests and gave Michal Zawada a yellow card for diving instead. Kazimierz Dziedziak could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 42nd minute of the match, but Marek Nigbor made a huge save. After having played for 44 minutes, Kazimierz Dziedziak managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Orzeł Toruń's supporters crossed their fingers, but Kazimierz Dziedziak was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Czeslaw Gonsiewski in the 49th minute of play forced Legia Warszawa's goalkeeper Marek Nigbor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Boruc Biskupiak to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the game, Orzeł Toruń's Czeslaw Gonsiewski nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marek Nigbor made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. If Czeslaw Gonsiewski had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. After 69 minutes of play Orzeł Toruń's Michal Zawada was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Through an outstanding action, after 71 minutes, Andrzej Ewertowski successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Marek Nigbor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Kazimierz Dziedziak charged in rather forcefully in the 83rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
