Edward Pankowski who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Jerzy Zapolski when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Zachariasz Cempa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pankracy Ruszkowski in the 30th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Witalis Bator during the 32nd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Piast Gliwice's Witalis Bator got a free kick in the 33rd minute. Herbert Cieliczka struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Zachariasz Cempa didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Leszczyki Borowe. In the 35th minute, Piast Gliwice's Edward Pankowski ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jerzy Zapolski. Jerzy Zapolski yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. Zachariasz Cempa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Herbert Cieliczka in the 45th minute of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edward Pankowski stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 played minutes Piast Gliwice got a freekick which was hit by Lucjan Cytrynski. Milosz Piwowarski hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Jerzy Zapolski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zbyszko Makomaski in the 68th minute of play. After 70 minutes of play, Piast Gliwice's Edward Pankowski made it 3-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jerzy Zapolski was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 74th minute the ball was on its way in behind Piast Gliwice's goalkeeper Zachariasz Cempa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The audience thought a goal was coming when Herbert Cieliczka got free with Zachariasz Cempa in the 75th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jerzy Zapolski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edward Pankowski in the 80th minute of the match. The supporters of Piast Gliwice booed when Leszczyki Borowe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Radoslaw Grabski didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 84 minutes, Zbyszko Makomaski managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Piast Gliwice's supporters crossed their fingers, but Zbyszko Makomaski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ludomir Latkiewicz's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Zachariasz Cempa read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 86th minute of play. When Zbyszko Makomaski fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Piast Gliwice's protests and gave Zbyszko Makomaski a yellow card for diving instead. In the 88th minute, Zbyszko Makomaski hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pankracy Ruszkowski got free with Zachariasz Cempa in the 90th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Herbert Cieliczka received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 95th minute. Zachariasz Cempa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
