The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Kristoffer Reinertsen kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. 16 minutes into the match, Steinmo IF's goalkeeper Erik Friestad had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jan-Frode Liabø. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jan-Frode Liabø got free with Erik Friestad in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. If Alexander Olden had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A very good chance. 24 minutes into the game, Christer Nord cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Erik Friestad showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jan-Frode Liabø, who was totally free with the ball in the 65th minute. A collision led to Steinmo IF getting a freekick after 84 minutes play. Odd-Eirik Nybakk hit a great ball. When Jan-Frode Liabø came up free with the goalie in the 87th minute, the Meskestad fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jan-Frode Liabø couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Steinmo IF's Noah Tuft got a free kick in the 90th minute. Erik Friestad made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Christer Nord in the 91st minute of play. Alexander Olden in the 95thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Johan Thrane, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Through an outstanding action, after 96 minutes, Johan Thrane successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alexander Olden got free with Johan Thrane in the 98th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Steinmo IF's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
