If Thomas Nordal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Varna's Julius Lomeland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Stig-Inge Myrseth in the 21st minute of play. In the 27th minute, Alan Meier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thomas Nordal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 30th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Christer Robertsen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 33rd minute. Julius Lomeland tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The crowd rose to their feet as Varna's Thomas Nordal slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Balder Skotnes. That made the score 1-0 after 41 minutes of play. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Søren Forsberg made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Varna's goal looked a bit too open when Søren Forsberg came free, but Julius Lomeland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Varna's Julius Lomeland played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Søren Forsberg in the 58th minute of play. When Gruner FK's Søren Forsberg in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Varna's goalie prevented a goal. Balder Skotnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Kai-Arne Mydland, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Varna's goal looked a bit too open when Søren Forsberg came free, but Julius Lomeland reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Søren Forsberg was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 74th minute. Gruner FK's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Thomas Nordal's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Balder Skotnes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 76th minute of play. Julius Lomeland made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Søren Forsberg in the 80th minute of play. When Øyvind Lomeland came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Gruner FK fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Øyvind Lomeland couldn't finish the play. Thomas Nordal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Balder Skotnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Thomas Nordal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Øyvind Lomeland got free with Julius Lomeland in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 97 minutes into the match, Varna's goalkeeper Julius Lomeland had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Stig-Inge Myrseth. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Varna had won after a very even match.
